Creative Experiments

01 Experimental Prada Video Campaign

Victor Shemper conceptualized, directed, filmed, and edited an experimental mock video
campaign for Prada.  The short film focuses on the typographic forms within the Prada
logo in relation to the moving human form.

Performed by Charlie Sue Birznieks

02 The Tapestry

The Tapestry is a series of self-portrait images conceptualized, photographed, edited,
and manipulated by Victor Shemper. The piece addresses the negative impact cultural
and social assimilation has on individuality, specifically on the basis of fashion.

03 The You and I Manifesto

Victor Shemper was sponsored by the Fashion Institute of Technology  to develop this experiential interactive design for the Graphic Design Department. The work is a 8’ x 3’
piece composed of embroidered typography and spray painted type on a concrete
covered foam board.

The piece was built and conceptualized entirely by Victor Shemper.
Process explained below.

Step 1: Thread With the guidance of James Pearce, I acquired the skills tooperate an embroidery
machine. All the red typography on the piece is machine embroidered onto
water-soluble stabilizer fabric. This granted me the ability to embed the embroidered
words within the cement an dissolve the fabric surrounding them, creating the illusion
that the thread was seamlessly embroidered into the cement.

Step 2: Concrete
To build the concrete block, I utilized a one inch foam board as a base and used a CNC
machine to engrave the primary quote within the board. Subsequently, I blended a
mixture of vertical mix plaster, ramp adhesive, and water, evenly spreading it across the
entirety of the board. Using ramp adhesive and water I then embedded the
embroidered typography within the concrete.

Step 3: Spray Paint
Finally, I operated a laser cutting machine to cut stencils for all the remaining typography. Applying simple white spray paint over the stencil, I applied all of the white typography
onto the surface of the dried concrete.

The World Burns Beautifully

Victor Shemper conceptualized, directed, filmed, and edited a short film focused on the
fatal doom of the earth, and the end to all beautiful things.Used in the film is a sculptural
element Victor built and coded
. The bed of blinking flowers was created by deconstructing
flowers, dehydrating the petals, and reconstructing them around LEDs that were then coded
to blink in coordination to the music.
